Round two of the Thunderbolt Invitational wrapped up Tuesday at Sterling Grove Golf and Country Club in Surprise, Arizona, with a dramatic shift at the top of the leaderboard heading into the final round.

Oregon State’s Rylan Johnson surged into a share of the lead after firing a course record ten under par sixty three in round two. Johnson rebounded from an opening round seventy four with one of the lowest rounds of the season, moving to five under par one hundred thirty seven through thirty six holes.
Johnson is joined at the top by Vincent Cervantes of Marquette, who followed his opening round seventy two with a five under par sixty five to also reach five under for the tournament.
Thayer Plewe of New Mexico sits solo third at four under par after a steady second round sixty eight, keeping himself firmly in contention heading into Wednesday.
Six players share fourth at three under par, including Logan Kim of UCLA, Hanjie Yu of UC San Diego, Connor Henry of Middle Tennessee State, Johnnie Clark of New Mexico, Mason Snyder of UNLV, and Collin Hodgkinson of Oregon State.
UNLV’s Trevor Lewis rounds out the top ten at two under par after a second round sixty seven.
