Shawn Lu captured the 2025 China Sports Lottery Match Play Championship on November 30 in Chongqing, earning his first win on the China Tour after closing the match with three consecutive birdies.
Lu, a Honolulu native and former member of the Oahu Junior Golf Association, advanced to the professional ranks following a five year career at Oregon State. He completed 129 rounds for the Beavers, tied for sixth most in program history, and finished with a career scoring average of 72.81, the tenth best in school records. His time in Corvallis included two individual titles, nine top ten finishes, nineteen rounds in the sixties and thirty nine sub par rounds. He also earned All Pac 12 First Team honors and a PING All Region selection in 2021.
Lu posted several collegiate scoring milestones, including a seven under 63 at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate and a nine under 204 at the Thunderbird Collegiate. His senior season featured individual wins at the Hamptons Intercollegiate and the Husky Individual. He also appeared in NCAA Regionals and the NCAA Championship and collected multiple Pac 12 Academic recognitions.
Before college Lu won the Hawaii State Amateur Championship and contributed to Team Hawaii’s Junior Americas Cup title. His junior career also included AJGA medalist honors and a state high school individual championship at Moanalua High School.
Lu’s victory in Chongqing adds a significant professional milestone to an accomplished amateur and collegiate record.
